The Future of Social Media

Social media—or “new media”—is one of the latest trends in the business and social worlds.  Things haven’t always been this way, though. According to The Nielsen Company, the amount of social media usage has increased over one minute each year since 2007.

As you can see, the use of Facebook and Twitter has shot up in the last two years. The one category that surprises me is the diminishing use of LinkedIn; I would have guessed LinkedIn would have shown an increase rather than a loss. Do any of these statistics surprise you?
