Social Media in the Super Bowl Part 1
February 01 2010 by Erik Eitel ~ View CommentsWith one of the most watched TV events in the history of television only 6 days away, people are beginning to make their party plans, put their picks in for the game, and are even wondering which company will come out with the best Super Bowl commercial. Last year we saw the first 3D commercial. While it wasn’t terrific, it did set the bar even higher for all Super Bowl ads in the future.
Now the thing that really got me thinking was, how large of a role will Social Media play in the Super Bowl? We all know that Twitter will be jam packed with Super Bowl tweets, but how many of those tweets will be companies trying to market when they have one of the largest audiences they will ever have all year? Maybe this time instead of texting in your vote for Super Bowl MVP or favorite Super Bowl commercial you will have to tweet your vote! The possibilities are endless when it comes to marketing with social media. Let’s see how the Super Bowl stacks up!
Stay tuned for Part 2 of Social Media in the Super Bowl next week as I recap the game and how social media was used. Maybe we’ll even have a quiz! So pay attention!
