Don’t Burn Your Bridges- Your Enemies are also Your Friends
April 23 2010 by Erik Eitel ~ 0 CommentsAfter reading an article by Charles H. Green on CRM Daily, I decided to emphasize the importance of relationships in the business world. As businesses begin to grow and internet marketing becomes more prevalent, it is important to realize that you and your company won’t be able to do it all. With that being said, often times your competitor will be your friend and your customer could be your partner.
For example if you are software giant Microsoft and are producing your own computers, are you making all of your parts? No. You may be partnered with Intel for your processor and with LG for your monitors, but on the same token you may be fighting over a contract to network or supply an office building with computer products.
From a social media perspective you must learn to give, give, give, then receive. You need to be a partner first, then develop a customer-supplier relationship. Some people or companies that you are connected with on Twitter or Facebook could prove to be great resources, customers, or even competitors, but you must develop a relationship. In theory, the more partnerships you form, the less the strength of your competitors.
