The Awareness Social Marketing Hub
Awareness, Inc. unveiled this week at South by Southwest (SXSW) its new software for helping marketers deal with the challenges of managing multiple social media channels. Every marketer knows that collectively working with multiple channels in social media has a greater effect than using them separately, but trying to manage them all is sometimes a colossal task. The release of this software allows marketers to manage all channels and simplify management and execution in just one click.
Also revealed at South by Southwest (SXSW) is the redesign of Digg, a social news site designed to allow people to share and rate news content. Everything has changed, not just the look. It’s done away with its rigid taxonomy of user-selected tags and is using the broader social web to help users find other relevant news stories. It’s still in pre beta, and invitations will soon be sent out. To get a sneak peek, check out new.digg.com and read the article for full details.
Meet the 25-Year-Old Who Saved “SEO” From Being Trademarked
Rhea Drysdale, a 25-year-old COO who founded Outspoken Media and has been in the SEO industry since 2004, single-handedly (well, with the exception of the some lawyers!) terminated an attempt to trademark SEO by Jason Gambert last week. Neither a group of people nor the industry stood up to defeat Gambert’s trademark registration, Rhea put in her own time and money to defeat the passage of the registration. What would have happened to SEO had the trademark registration passed? Thanks to Rhea, we won’t have to find out and the industry can continue to flourish.
Twitter CEO Evan Williams introduced at SXSW the @Anywhere platform that integrates Twitter features into other third-party websites. There are many initial partners for this new platform including Digg, AdvertisingAge, Amazon.com and Bing. The belief is that this new platform will help spread news faster on Twitter. The live coverage in this article includes more information on Twitter’s new business model, a video coverage and notes from the keynote speakers.
The numbers are in and Facebook has beat Google as the most visited site in the US. This is the first time since 2007 that Google hasn’t been number one. Facebook squeaked by with 7.07% of all website visits, while Google had 7.03% of visits. Facebook has topped Google before for individual days but never consecutively and ending out the week. Facebook has proven successful in social networking and beyond, Google now adds Facebook updates alongside Twitter’s on the results search page.
Google Predicts Mobile Ad Rates Will Top PC Ad Rates
Although ad rates for mobile are still lower per click than PC ad rates, they are skyrocketing in enormous numbers. The popularity and accessibility of smart phones, such as Blackberry, iPhone and Android, has helped the increase in ad rates. Owners of these phones are using them in ways that was once restricted to only a PC, such as the capability to search, which is Google’s reason for increasing their mobile efforts.
