Five Reasons Google Buzz has Twitter, Facebook Worried

The release of Google Buzz has sent chills down other social network’s spin. Why?  Because it’s GOOGLE. Among other reasons, such as it is integrated with Gmail and it’s soon going to tackle the business world. Check out this article as it breaks down the top five reasons social networking sites should watch out for Buzz.

Just For Fun- Google Parody Ads

Super Bowl ads are the best. Google unveiled its first Super Bowl ad this past Sunday, in front of the largest audience to date. Of course every great ad has parodies, it’s the nature of the beast but it is fun, none the less. Google did something right considering it was #2, only behind Doritos, in tweets. For a good laugh as you enter the weekend, check out early with these. There’s nothing like a little Tiger parody.

Dove Super Bowl Commercial Getting a Buzz

Dove’s Super Bowl commercial has been creating some buzz, perhaps more buzz than the Google. Some questioned the ethics behind the men’s Dove commercial and if they were making the right decision with a 30-second ad during the most expensive time of the season, but despite some awkward glances, this spot is proving successful for Dove. Unilever, the parent company of Dove, wants to create viral buzz surrounding the men’s care line. This was done by the “Victory Shower” which was an online video featuring the winning team’s quarterback, Drew Brees.

Google to Offer Super Fast Internet Service

In more Google news, Wednesday they made the announcement that they would now offer ultra-high speed Internet access. This service will be limited to only a few communities at first. It’s basically a test to prove to people what we would be capable of doing in the US with ultra-high speed internet access. This article gives the full details, applauses and criticisms and all, of Google’s next move.

Five Ways Not To Be Annoying On Twitter

I always want to find a way to be more effective on Twitter, and I’m not the only one. There have been a plethora of articles published lately about how to properly use Twitter. One of my favorites is this one, how not to be annoying on Twitter. Rule #1: DON’T HIDE. Twitter was made on the precedence of a completely open social networking site, it thrives off of people’s public conversations, allowing others to follow and join a variety of conversations. This doesn’t work so well if there are people not revealing their true identity or if people set their tweets to private. The choice is yours, I’m just sayin’.

Super Data

Ok yes, here’s another Twitter article, what can I say, there was a lot of talk this week about commercials and tweets. This article offers information and graphs tracking the number of tweets during the Super Bowl this past Sunday. It shows various spikes in activity on the site and tells you at what point during the game those tweets took place.  What do you think the most tweeted thing was during the game?

Don’t Start an Online Community for Any of the These Reasons

We’re all in the business of selling; selling something, whether it is products, services, ourselves, you name it. But when it comes to selling, specifically selling online and in an online community, this blog by Richard Millington, gives reasons why you shouldn’t start an online community. The thing I like most about this blog—it tells companies that a relationship and engagement comes first before sales and numbers.

The Top Five Reasons Brands Fear Social Media

Apparently I like “Top XYZ” articles, they’re easy to read and get right to the point. I enjoy bulleted information the most. This one talks about the top five reasons that brands still fear social media. Even with the huge push into the digital world and entering into the conversation era, why are brands still avoiding this medium? Pepsi took the plunge, and we’ll see later on if their investment worked but hopefully they’ll set a precedent in big brands using social media.
