6 Ways to Reward People for Liking Your Facebook Page

If you’re audience is on Facebook and you’re trying to reach and engage them there, then you’ve probably already set up a company Facebook page. But many companies create pages and wonder why people are not flocking to them. Unless you’re Lady Gaga or some very recognizable brand, it might be hard to get a million people to like your Facebook Page. But when it comes down to it, you want quality (engaged fans) over quantity. But the best way to get that quality (and a little of quantity) likes for your page is rewarding people for liking your page.  Here are some ideas on how to achieve that.

1) Content

The first place to start is always with content. Make sure your company is giving your fans content that is helpful, newsworthy, and/or entertaining. And it has to be consistent. For example, you may run a great Facebook contest, but if you are consistently producing great content, your fans will still have something to look forward to when the contest is over. Content is one of the best ways to connect with customers because its tells a story or gives people insight about the values of your brand.

2) Discounts and Coupons

According to research from the IBM Institute for Business Value, the number one reason people are interacting with companies via social media is to receive tangible value in the form of discounts and coupons. This can be easily done through a custom tab. After a person likes your page, set it up so that their like unlocks a discount code or printable coupon. As an example, Ann Taylor offers 30% off one full-price item for liking its page.

3) Contests and Sweepstakes

Letting people participate in contests and sweepstakes is another great way to reward people for liking your Facebook page. This is also a great opportunity to ask for fun, fan-generated content. You can ask people to submit a photo of them and your product, vote on something, answer a question or just enter a sweepstakes to win something. 4) Reward Loyalty

Right now one of the best examples of rewarding loyalty comes from Dunkin Donuts’ Facebook Page. They display the “Fan of the Week” within their profile picture. This is a simple way to recognize some of your most loyal fans.

5) Engage

If a fan takes the time to write on your Facebook wall, you should take the time to write back! This is one of the easiest ways to make fans feel special. Keep in mind that not every fan comment will be positive; at some point, you’ll probably have to deal with complaints. Be prepared to handle those issues then they arise.

6) Give Back to the Community

Offer people the chance to help improve something in the world if they like your Facebook page. For example, Dynamite Specialty Products, which makes all-natural dog food, pledged to give to give a pound of dog food to Humane Society of Idaho for every new Facebook fan. They ended up gaining 2,800 new fans and donating 2,800 pounds of food. Another example is No nonsense socks, which are currently donating socks to families in need when you like their Facebook Page.

    These are all great ways to reward people for liking your page on Facebook. Another way could be to make it easier for people to connect with/interact with each other. Just as they are interacting with the company on Facebook, if you can encourage people to interact with each other (if it makes sense), that can be a win, too.
