June 27 2011 by ~ 0 Comments

There are many ways to reward your Facebook fans. You can provide them with good content, discounts, contests, reward their loyalty, engage with them, and help give back to the community. All of those ideas take time and energy but creating a Facebook contest or giveaway often takes a bit more creativity and effort. Here are five examples of some creative contests and giveaways on Facebook that we’ve seen recently.

Pixar’s Cars 2

Pixar is giving fans of the Cars Facebook page a chance to win an original piece of art from a Pixar artist. Fans are encouraged to create a Facebook event to go see Cars 2 and invite their friends; the event with the most “Yes” RSVPs wins! You create the event through a Facebook app where you select dates, times and invite friends. The end result is an actual Facebook event that contains the information you entered before, plus pre-populated information from Pixar about the contest and the movie. You must create the event via the Facebook app to win, which gives Pixar control over the quality and some content of each Facebook event. Pixar also created a leaderboard for the people hosting an Cars 2 event to further drive competition and get participants to invite more of their friends.

Wise Chips

Wise has a great summer-themed sweepstakes for people to enter to win a Weber BBQ grill, case of chips, or an American Flag. They also make it easy to share, like and invite friends to the sweepstakes.

Slacker Premium Radio

Slacker is giving away free 1-month subscriptions to  everyone who signs up for their new premium radio service. After sign up, people are entered to win one of 40 one-year subscriptions, which makes this sweepstakes even more appealing.

Guy Kawasaki

With the release of his new book, Enchantment, Guy wanted people to share their most enchanting photos. People entered photos in the following categories: Kids, Pets, Travel, Vehicles and People. The ten entries that received the most votes in each category were finalists. The facilitators selected a winner in each category and the winners were given a new Nikon camera. The category finalists that garnered the most fan overall votes received an iPad.

Tim Lincecum/Red Bull

Red Bull has teamed up with Tim Lincecum, star pitcher for the San Francisco Giants, to let fans predict Lincecum’s strikeouts for his starting games. Along with predictions, fans are asked to submit a photo that demonstrates passion for Lincecum and the SF Giants. The contest finalists are all the people who made the correct strikeout prediction for a given game. The winner is the person with the most fan votes based on the picture they originally entered. All winners receive a limited edition autographed Red Bull ‘K’ sign.

We hope this gives you some great ideas for your next Facebook contest. Please remember to read Facebook’s promotions guidelines before you start!
